Millennium Countdown Clock

The changing of a Millennium is no minor event, and Integrated Circles we called upon to design and install the Millennium Countdown Clock, positioned over the Thames, on Express Newspapers' building, adjacent to Blackfriars Bridge. Integrated Circles took the brief, designed, built and installed the display all within eight weeks.

When designing the display, Integrated Circles had to take into consideration the accuracy of information to be displayed along with visibility, weather conditions, temperature changes and ambient lighting levels for day and night.

The result is a massive display featuring 2 metre high digits, each powered by 1kW of incandescent lighting, displaying countdown information accurate to signals received from the MSF in Rugby. Integrated Circles built in "light tracking" technology and automatic dimming to ensure that the display's brilliance appears constant over the twenty four hours of a day, and throughout the seasons.
