AV technology meets photography at Dimbola Lodge

Visitors to the buildings, which served as Margaret Cameron’s home and studio from 1860, can learn about the history of photography, the camera and Cameron’s life, through a series of short films played on large screen monitors by Integrated Circles’ solid state VideoStores.
Integrated Circles’ Project Manager, Caroline James, commented: “The museum looks set to be a popular attraction on the Isle of Wight, so all the technology used has to be durable in order to withstand frequent use. The VideoStore is designed to be used repetitively and to endure even the most heavy-handed of visitors.” The buildings were rescued from demolition in 1990 by the Julia Margaret Cameron Trust and
after securing funding from the Foundation for Sport and Arts and the Heritage Lottery Fund, Dimbola Lodge now houses a gallery, the UK’s largest permanent collection of Cameron’s work, a fully equipped studio and darkroom for courses and workshops and a strong room to house the Trust’s valuable and extensive collection.
