Breakthrough in video playback without tapes or discs
Audio Visual specialists Integrated Circles have just released a completely Solid State video player for use in museums, visitor centres and corporate exhibition areas. The “Compact VideoStore” has no moving parts, can run all day, every day and is offered with a five-year warranty.
The Compact VideoStore can be used to display video on CRT or LCD video monitors, Plasma screens or video projection systems. For sound reproduction a built-in stereo audio power amplifier allows direct connection to loudspeakers. The Compact VideoStore’s on board control system means that constantly looping video or instant, on demand playback of video passages is possible.
Reliability has been the motive for this latest design. The Compact VideoStore is the third generation of MPEG VideoStore to be released by Integrated Circles over a five year development program. Being solid-state means the Compact VideoStore has nothing that can go mechanically wrong. To further enhance this reliability, the Compact VideoStore uses an embedded proprietary operating system and video content is stored and replayed from non-volatile flash memory.
“Other disc based video servers on the market usually rely on desktop PC operating systems, which need long boot up times, controlled shut down procedures and are subject to the usual system crashes and conflicts. The Compact VideoStore takes video server technology several steps further and brings to video playback the level of reliability already experienced in museums and visitor centres throughout the world using our range of solid-state SoundStores and ShowStores” explained Simon Beer, Technical Director at Integrated Circles.
“This is a user-friendly low maintenance product” which will no doubt be very good news for museums, visitor centre and exhibition managers everywhere. The absence of moving parts reduces the risk of things going wrong and an in-built audio amplifier means users are guaranteed the highest quality sound alongside sharp, clean images…from one single box.
“From an installation point of view it doesn’t get much easier. The product features easy to use professional BNC video and industry standard Loudspeaker jacks connectors, so it is ready to plug in and use” he added. The Compact VideoStore is an ideal replacement for unreliable, ageing, or outdated laser discs, CD videos or DVDs.
The product will be on display at the forthcoming Museums Association 2001 Conference and Exhibition at the Queen Elizabeth Conference Centre, Westminster, October 29-30.
Integrated Circles staff will be on hand to discuss the product in detail and demonstrate its many unique features. There will also be a range of the company’s other products on display including the Digital SoundStores, ShowStores and lighting dimmers.
